Destination Weddings: Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 1 Comment :: Filed Under

We’re not even in the heat of summer and we’re already feeling the heat. So we thought our winter brides looking for a destination wedding might appreciate this “cool” setting from Photographer Carrie Patterson at the Lazy Moose Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  A truly unique spot, well off the beaten path, the Lazy Moose makes the most of the Big Sky Country with incredible mountain views and a definite Western vibe.  According to their website “Featured in both Western Interiors and Design and the Log Home Living Magazine,  the Lazy Moose Ranch and its Moose Center have become landmarks for  gracious living and entertaining in the West.  In the last year several  other log cabins were added to the Moose Center complex, and guests now  can enjoy shopping at the Moose Mercantile as their event planners work  in a spacious catering area behind the caterer.”  The owners of the Lazy Moose Ranch offer a full range of entertainment options characterized by elegance, full service and fun.  You and your guests can enjoy creative and rich decor in the Old West setting of the Moose Center as you enjoy the views from the spacious terrace or settle inside before a roaring fire.

Weddings Themes: Western Weddings with a Kick

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 3 Comments :: Filed Under

With the recent wedding of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton in Texas, we wanted to show off some of the wonderful western weddings that we’ve showcased here on our blog. (Lord knows we tried to find decent wedding photos of their wedding…the one below is the best we could find and it’s a scan from Us Weekly – sorry!).

What were some of the touches that Miranda Lambert brought to her wedding?

  • The bridesmaids were wearing cowboy boots. Specifically, Old Gringo boots.
  • Miranda let her bridesmaids have a little individuality. Each wore their own custom-made gown by Priscilla of Boston’s Mark Brower.
  • Miranda wore the same ivory wedding gown her mother wore over 30 years ago.  Miranda said, quote, “My parents have been married for 33 years, so this dress is already a good-luck charm.”
  • And Miranda wore custom-made Casadei cowboy boots

StrictlyWeddings.com Dallas partners photographer Thisbe Grace and events planner Jordan Payne provided us with some of the boot-scootin’ wedding photos below:

Wedding Inspirations: Dramatic Color, Simple Design

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 4 Comments :: Filed Under

This wedding under the direction of Kehoe Designs is clean and simplistic, with touches of Indian traditions. Kehoe transformed the room into a sumptuous getaway, using extensive white fabric treatment creating a bright glowing feel throughout the room. The ceremony hosted a towering ceremonial mandap which dramatically showcased hundreds of floating green orchids, all of which surrounded a suspended vintage-inspired chandelier. Bright pink floral balls were a unique twist for their aisle décor, while guests wore brightly colored sari’s, all the pieces tied together for a design that married elegance & tradition with lightness & modernity.

Wedding Inspiration From South of the Border

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 3 Comments :: Filed Under

Los Angeles florist and event planner Heavenly Blooms celebrated Cinco de Mayo this year with an inspirational shoot that included some wonderful Spanish touches. Being in Texas, we felt a certain kinship to the Spanish and Mexican design elements and the wedding gown? Exquisite.

The bridal bouquet was created with succulents, ambiance roses, ranunculus, tuberose, garden roses and coffee bean berries in shades of coral, peach, pina colada and teal green.

Heavenly Blooms wanted to do something fresh and different for the table scape, so they used clear cylinder vases and succulents for the centerpiece. Each cylinder was filled with dry pinto beans, then they used a variety of different succulents such as mini cactus and echeveria. Additional color was added with fresh open roses clustered around the base of pillar candles in terra cotta holders.

These papel picado flags, meant to be waved as the bride and groom pass by.

Featured Chicago Wedding: Together…from the first moment

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 3 Comments :: Filed Under

When Jasmine planned for the trip to her best friend’s birthday, she didn’t have romance on her mind. Yet, that night she met Danny. Instant connection! The next day when she drove home, she called her friend to gossip about the weekend and Danny grabbed the phone and they ended up talking all night.

They were together over two years before Danny proposed. Danny thought the only appropriate way to propose to an angel was to take her up into the clouds. So he booked a helicopter tour of the Windy City. After the helicopter landed, Danny went around to help Jasmine out, and got onto one knee, pulled out the engagement ring and Jasmine said yes before he even uttered a word.

Jasmine wanted to create a romantic feminine style without being obvious. A cream palette kept everything soft and ethereal. She loved having the bridesmaids in cream with the contrasting purple flowers. The hints of purple added to the romantic feminine look.

The Elysian Hotel was the reception location. The bride fell in love at a glance! Every room was more beautiful than the next. And then she entered the ballroom and saw the chandeliers and the balcony – it was perfect. Jasmine mentioned to the manager that she wanted to get married outdoors in a park and she told her about Washington Square Park two blocks away. Mom and daughter walked over to the park with the fountain and the flowers and just fell in love again!

When asked what they thought was the best part of their wedding, they answered:

“…that moment we clasped hands and had the wreath of orchids around our shoulders, speaking our vows face to face holding back the tears…the best part of our wedding was being in our own world for that moment in time.”
