The Allure and Sensuality of Claire Pettibone Lingerie

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 1 Comment :: Filed Under

Sexy, alluring, lingerie is so much more than a Victoria’s Secret storefront. With Claire Pettibone, our brides can add several pieces of her romantic lingerie to their honeymoon seduction. In these photos by Elizabeth Messina, another fav photographer at StrictlyWeddings.com, Pettibone’s desire to “make a woman feel as special as the delicate creation she is wearing” is realized.

About Claire Pettibone:

When I design a collection I strive to make a woman feel as special as the delicate creation she is wearing; take her to a enchanted time and place where women are princesses and magnificent goddesses. In today’s modern world we need to pause and indulge in beauty.

I spent my early childhood living in rural New York in a 19th century farmhouse on acres of rolling hills. As an only child, most of my time was consumed exploring the surrounding streams and forests, picking wild raspberries, and dreaming. Among the trees, ferns and wild flowers it was very easy to imagine and believe in a world of fairies and magic castles. Some of my earliest drawings are of princesses and brides dressed in elaborate gowns.

My parents are both professional artists, so I was exposed to galleries and museums and encouraged to develop my creativity. I studied classical ballet for years and the stories and costumes of the ballet continue to influence my ideas of elegance and grace. As a teenager I began pouring over European Vogue where the world of couture opened up to me.

It has always been my desire to create exquisite feminine clothing using the finest fabrics and precious details; to combine a vintage feeling with modern style. In 1994, with the partnership of my husband Guy Toley, we began. Over the years, it has been a joy to see our collections carried in the finest boutiques in the world. I have a very romantic vision of how fashion can enhance our beauty and indulge our dreams. I invite you to share that dream.

Claire Pettibone – Spirit of the Night – Spring 2011 Collection

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 3 Comments :: Filed Under

We visited couture bridal designer Claire Pettibone’s blog and found her “journey” leading up to New York’s Bridal Week October 21. Based on the exquisite photos of her inspirations, expect to see enchanting colors and mystical fairies for her Spring 2011 theme!

Claire Pettibone - Spring 2011

“I can’t remember a time before fairies. I would play for hours in the meadows and streams of my childhood, making dresses of leaves and petals for the sprites I imagined lived in the woods. One of my favorite childhood books was called The Fairy Circus, written in 1933. It had been my grandmother’s, then my mother’s, and now I am sharing it with my little Lorelei. The gorgeous illustrations of the fairy queen seemed so magical and luminous…just the way I imagine a bride to be on her wedding day.

Luminescent wings, drops of dew on a rose, the colorful glow of the sun dissolving into the moon. Glittering sequins, beads, pearls and crystals dazzle and sparkle. An ethereal wedding gown in moon-lit gold and spun silver, shimmers between reality and another world. Night settles in the forest, the moon rises, and the fairies come out to dance and play.” – Claire Pettibone

It’s all in the details…

Ever since I first come across this boutique designer I fell in love with her romantic and timeless approach to bridal couture. Los Angeles Designer, Claire Pettibone Couture says “When I create a dress, it’s all about the fabric and the woman, and how these elements are combined to enhance each other”. This is so visible in her ability to design dream like gowns that harmoniously represent the pure essence of a Bride in love.

As much as I adore her ongoing range I am loving the 2009 collection. But what is a ‘Rock n Roll Bride’?  I can liken it to that tiny tatoo of a butterfly you had done when you were 17 on the inside of your ankle…  You could have gone with a grotesque dragon across your shoulder blade and down one side of your arm but rather, you chose a more subtle approach. Call me a rebel but it’s that ongoing battle of Good vs Bad…  Mozart vs Death Metal…  Steamed Vegetables and water vs Pizza and beer.

OK, so maybe I went a little off track there… Regardless of how you see them this collection focuses on Divine figure hugging pieces making best use of soft fabrics which creative movement and shape. Think Silk charmeuse, Cotton crochet lace, French cotton voile, Velvet and Tulle, combine them with some delicate styling and a tiny tattoo of a butterfly on your ankle and your dream gown awaits!
