Weddings Texas style – Boots & Couture

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 1 Comment :: Filed Under

In October, we showcased one of our photographers, Thisbe Grace, who shared her beautiful images of an engagement shoot in a field of Texas wildflowers and the bride wore boots. Well, the bride and groom, Lindsey and Rusty, are now married. Wedding planner, Jordan Payne, shared these additional photos by Thisbe of this sweet (and we bet a little bit sassy) wedding.

A Wedding Palette of Chartreuse and Choral

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 2 Comments :: Filed Under

Our StrictlyWeddings.com partner, Jordan Payne, from Jordan Payne Events shared these photos from a recent wedding. She loved designing with a color palette of chartreuse and coral which, to her, spoke of the beautiful combination of summer warmth. The tones were carried from the bride’s Monolo’s to the flower girls wedding wand. It was an intimate affair of 50 guests held at the Joule Hotel in Dallas.

White Wedding Bouquets – Simple Elegance

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 5 Comments :: Filed Under

How we love the simple elegance of white & ivory bouquets.  There is just something so beautiful and serene about the color palette.  Almost every flower type comes in a white or ivory tone which really gives the designer freedom to create wonders.  Below are a few white and ivory bouquet favorites from Jordan Payne of Jordan Payne Events in Dallas, Texas. We hope these give you some special inspiration!

Wedding Reception Colors – Artful Wedding Cakes

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 3 Comments :: Filed Under

Recently we had the pleasure of designing some tablescapes for the annual Belo Mansion open house. Brides-to-Be and their families were invited to the annual event to meet and mingle with the best Dallas has to offer in the world of weddings (and check out their work!). Frosted Art provided one of their beautiful cakes for the historic ballroom that is such a pleasure to decorate & design. This fab cake was completely covered with gorgeous sugar flowers – very impressive!

Teaming up with Posh Couture Rentals, my company, Jordan Payne Events, designed some tablescapes ranging from chic to romantic. Special thanks to Scott Hagar for the fabulous photos.

Light Up Your Wedding Night

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 4 Comments :: Filed Under

Looking for that “something” that will really make your wedding feel like a fairy-tale? Look no more, lighting is the answer! This luxury is a small price to pay for a big and bold statement. Whether you’re having an afternoon reception of hors d’oeuvres and mimosas, or a seated dinner affair at 8, the simple addition of lighting can be transformational. Lighting can be used to give a cold room a sense of warmth and glow, or change an elegant ballroom into a personal fashion statement for you and your hip groom.

This couple used Jordan Payne Events to transform The Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas into an exotic lounge. Fun, Flirty, Creative…Clearly, this was an event no one could forget with such stunning lighting. Absolutely an art form!

Jordan Payne Events provided this classic wedding look shown below as well. Here is an example of more subtle lighting, a look well suited for the simple and elegant bride. With warm golden tones, this lighting will surely make your guests feel welcome, invited and comfortable. Beautiful with all wedding colors, especially those in the warm color family (reds, gold/yellow, browns, etc.), and complimented by the beautiful chandelier in Arlington Hall at Lee Park in Dallas, Texas. Timeless!

Next time you’re brainstorming ways to add that “special touch” to your reception, remember, don’t skimp on lighting. It’s worth every penny!

Strike a Pose! Wedding Photos – More Dramatic, Edgier

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 2 Comments :: Filed Under

There are some tricks that you can adopt to look better in your wedding pictures irregardless of whether it’s a professional photographer who poses you or your uncle or auntie whose instructions is limited to “say cheese!” By knowing some tips and secrets, and spending time in front of the mirror practicing before the big day, you can help look your best for your wedding pictures.

  • Point Your Toes
    • You may think a pointed toe doesn’t matter because most wedding gowns cover your feet but it does make a difference.
    • Avoid planting both your feet together while flat on the ground. Move a foot to point your toes by doing this; you are shifting your weight to your back foot, which will cause your hip to shift. This hip-shift makes you look curvier.
  • Turn Your Shoulder at 45-degree Angle to the Camera
    • If you turn your body slightly to the right or left, you will appear slimmer in the photo. Generally speaking, your entire body should never be square with the camera but slightly side-on, usually 45-degree or more.
  • Relax Your Shoulders
    • People tend to tighten and raise their shoulders when they are nervous and this causes a couple of problems. It makes your shoulders appear narrower, your neck shorter, and worse, it creates a look of tenseness. (Not a happy bride pose!).
    • To be able to do this pose, you have to concentrate on relaxing your shoulders let them fall naturally.

  • Keep your Elbows Away from Your Body
    • Unless you are super-slim, pose with your elbows slightly away from your sides. If you pose with your elbows touching the sides of your body, your body will look as wide as the elbow-to-elbow dimension, not to mention that if you have upper arms that are not toned, it will get squished and look even bigger.
    • Just move your elbows slightly away from your sides, creating just a small separation between your body and your arm, people will notice the cut-in of your waistline in your photos and this makes your torso appears slimmer.
    • Learn this pose with care. When you are moving your elbows outward, make sure that you do not lift your shoulders (which we already know, is not a good thing). Also you only want to move your elbows slightly away from your sides – too far out and you’ll look like you’re doing the funky chicken!
  • Make Your Eyes Appear Larger
    • Usually, it is not flattering to tilt your head back because your chin becomes more prominent than your eyes. Lower your chin by a fraction of an inch.  This will bring your eyes closer to the camera than your chin and mouth and makes your eyes appear larger. Just a tiny lower – too much lowering and you might cause a double chin. Practice in front of the mirror.
  • Relax Your Forehead
    • When trying to accentuate their eyes, brides will open their eyes wide. In the process of doing this, they raise their eyebrows which creates a “surprised look” and a wrinkled forehead.
    • Keep your eyes and forehead relaxed in order to look more natural. Practice your facial poses in front of the mirror till you are familiar with the movements.
