Featured Wedding – A Chance Meet at the Beach

Web & I met on a half-blind date, half-wing person type of situation. I was vacationing on Kauai with my family. My parents rented a house in Haena and we were constantly either at the beach or doing the usual tourist activities, such as hiking, scuba, snorkling, etc. My older sister, Ali, and I had meet a couple of “local” boys at the beach and one, really liking my sister, invited her to see the sunset that evening. Ali wanted me to come along, so he said he’d bring a friend. Thus, we met at sunset on Ke’e Beach, which is at the end of the road on Kauai’s North Shore. (I should mention that I did catch the bouquet at my friend’s wedding not even a month before…). Now we live in Hawaii.

I choose a peacock theme because the colors in the peacock’s feather are constantly changing; however; they remain a gorgeous palette of harmonious hues.

As far as vendors, everything fell perfectly into place. Our wedding planner, Allison of DFW Events, was recommended by a friend. She in turn pointed us towards Thisbe Grace, our photographer. We choose Mimi’s Garden and the Camp House (Dallas Arboretum) because of both there proximities and/or use of water. The Garden with its man-made waterfalls and the Camp House due to the beautiful view overlooking White Rock Lake. Gill’s was one of the pre-selected choices for the Dallas Arboretum and after meeting Steve, the owner, and tasting the food, I was sold. Ryan with Lights Dallas was another Allison choice and we could not have been happier with the sound and music. I always wanted a string quartet to play during the ceremony, specifically ” All You Need Is Love” as we walked out Man & Wife, and Dallas String Quartet played perfectly!

Wedding Trends – Brides and their Boots!

We are seeing more and more Brides and their Boots and they’re not just any boots! They are going all out with Custom Boots (as shown here), with their initials on them, expensive skins and the list goes on.

StrictlyWeddings.com was invited to our wonderful partners here in Dallas, Stanley Korshak Bridal Salon for an “oh so fun shoot” with some amazing boots. Becky and Loree, from the Bridal Salon, were our models that day and we also grabbed one handsome man from the men’s department to model the men’s boots (and he was wearing a beautiful Zegna suite-wow!).

Here are a few ideas for incorporating boots into your wedding:

• Brides might opt to have just the boots for their engagement session.
• If you are looking to have a custom pair made, talk to some of the wedding planners on our site. They may be able to guide you to some of the best places around to find the perfect fit.
• Wear your heels for the wedding, then change to your boots for the reception.

The scaning device sends the actual image of the foot to their master boot maker in  El Paso. The time frame is a mere three weeks. An impromptu trunk show from designer Claire Pettibone’s 2010 Cherry Blossom collection (see just a sample of these exquisite gowns below) will be showcased at StrictlyWeddings.com Dallas partner Stanley Korshak, 500 Crescent Court,  Dallas, TX, May 20-22. Appointments are preferred, yet walk-ins are welcome. We think the Cherry Blossom collection is truly unique and fabulous, a must see. Claire uses only the finest couture laces from looms in Paris and England. Her linings are delicate silk or organic cotton in it’s most untouched, pure state (never bleached or touched by any detergents).
