Vintage Love: Twigs & Honey Bridal Collection

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 3 Comments :: Filed Under

Every once in a while we love to find things that are pretty and want to share with all. The softness to this Vintage look is so inviting and so romantic. This is from one of our favorite Blogs on the West Coast Pacific Weddings

“We receive lots of interesting press releases and pitches, so I don’t know how I overlooked the beautiful work of Myra Callan, but I am happy to share her lovely new pieces. Ethereal and playful, a touch vintage and at once modern—this collection of hair pieces and embellishments is just so pretty! Visit Myra’s blog for even more wedding and bridesmaid inspiration!”

Vintage Inspired Wedding Gowns

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 2 Comments :: Filed Under

Alisa Benay is a gifted designer of vintage inspired wedding gowns. We found her blog complete with beautiful, close-up images of her most recent gowns. Several are featured below.

Alisa incorporates her fascination with vintage clothing as inspiration for her couture gowns. She combs the marketplace to enhance her bridal gowns, creating the most unique and romantic designs possible with custom made European trims and laces. Alisa also designs matching heirloom veils and jewelry to complete the vintage inspired ensemble.

DAPHNE, above, is a soft, subtle mix of luxurious silk velvet and French alencon lace. With peek-a-boo silhouette details at the bustier and hem.

IRIS, above and detailed below, is one of her newer gowns. The exposed corset laces up the back, but her secret trick to making the wedding day much more stress free is that her corseted gowns have a side zip access.

We love this idea. Alisa Benay introduced a new collection in 2010, BeLoved by Alisa Benay. BeLoved is a collection for the bride who wants beauty, grace, and style for a moderate price. The BeLoved collection has the option of letting the bride build her own dress! The bride chooses a top design, adds her favorite skirt design, and fabric. Then add custom options such as straps, sashes, or flowers.  Shown below is Francine, on of Alisa’s favorites from the collection. A V-neck silk shantung mermaid gown with a rouched midriff and dramatic chapel length hem.

Wedding Invitations – Vintage Handkerchiefs

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 4 Comments :: Filed Under

Wedding invitations these days are becoming more unique and more creative than ever before. Brides are no longer limited to paper choices for their invites and save the dates, they can choose from an array of different mediums, including vintage textiles.

In this wedding project from Bird and Banner, each invitation was screen printed on a one-of-a-kind vintage handkerchief, including a few handkerchiefs from the family’s personal collection. As an added personal touch, many of the male guests arrived at the wedding wearing their “invitations” as pocket squares!

These save the dates from Lucky Luxe, made for photographer Alisha Clark’s wedding, are another great way to incorporate a unique vintage flair into your wedding. Mixing and matching vintage hankies instead of new ones ensures that every guest will get something unique in the mail.

Megan & Andrew – A Vintage Wedding

Posted by StrictlyWeddings.com :: 6 Comments :: Filed Under

Andrew and I met in 2003 as Sophomores at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. Andrew held the door open for me and said it was “love at first sight” and had to find out who I was. We first became best friends which quickly grew into more. We had dated for five years when Andrew asked me to marry him. He proposed to me at our favorite Italian restaurant and had my entire family travel the two hours from my hometown to join us in the celebration. He even had my Nana picked up in Chicago by a limo to make sure she was there. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Family and friends mean so much to Andrew and I that even though we would be in a large venue, we wanted it to be an intimate gathering for those we love. What made it even easier to accomplish is that Jennifer Anderson was not only our planner through the process, but had become our friend. Without Jennifer, Vince at Kehoe Designs, and the Don Cagen Orchestra, the “vintage romance” atmosphere would have never come together into something so beautiful. At one point during the reception every single guest was on the dance floor having a good time. It was a night Andrew and I will never ever forget!

Bridal Bouquet: White Garden Roses, White Fringe Tulips, White Ranunculus, White, Freesia, Hanging Amaranthus and vintage flower buttons.

Wedding Cake: The five-tier cake featured a different pattern design on each layer including the fleur de lis, Swiss dot, leafy scroll pattern and French design influences.

Place card table: Natural Manzanita Branches with hanging crystals and hanging votive candles, white orchids and white hydrangea

Centerpieces tables: Two types of centerpieces graced the tables. The centerpieces focused on shades of burgundy, merlot, and dark red floral with accents of orange, green, cerise and mango. The Flemish inspired designs set atop antique wood urns and were highlighted with colored votives.
