One of our featured wedding brides, Jenny, sent us these cute design ideas for Save the Date and other invitation items that her husband, Jason, created. Jason owns a high-end marketing/design firm in Chicago and he works with clients from all over the country. For their wedding, he created faux newspapers that were personalized and placed in the out-of-towner gift bags. The newspapers gave the details of the weekend but did so in a way that mimicked an actual newspaper right down to the type of paper and sepia coloring. They were such a hit that they’ve had many people (through word of mouth) contact him to recreate the newspapers with their own pictures, story, etc. His thank you cards and save-the-date were also buzz-worthy among friends. Below are examples of the designs. To contact Jason you can email or phone him at 773.248.2591.

One of our new luxury wedding resources is Lela New York who designs exquisite, luxury wedding invitations.

The invitation shown here was created for a destination wedding in Capri, Italy and was inspired by the brides lace wedding gown with purple and lavender details. The silk invitation is a gatefold style and opens in the middle revealing the ultra thick letterpress and foil stamped invitation.

The two pockets on each side of the gatefold/book style invite holds the bride’s rsvp and reception cards. The inside of this luxury invite is also layered with a pretty lace that gives it such a elegant look and reflects the bride’s style and wedding. The custom invitation design and graphics were inspired by their exquisite location and was hand drawn and later letter pressed. And the invitation was finished of with a silver satin ribbon and custom crystal closure.

Wedding invitations these days are becoming more unique and more creative than ever before. Brides are no longer limited to paper choices for their invites and save the dates, they can choose from an array of different mediums, including vintage textiles.

In this wedding project from Bird and Banner, each invitation was screen printed on a one-of-a-kind vintage handkerchief, including a few handkerchiefs from the family’s personal collection. As an added personal touch, many of the male guests arrived at the wedding wearing their “invitations” as pocket squares!

Vintage handkerchief wedding save the dates from Lucky Luxe

These save the dates from Lucky Luxe, made for photographer Alisha Clark’s wedding, are another great way to incorporate a unique vintage flair into your wedding. Mixing and matching vintage hankies instead of new ones ensures that every guest will get something unique in the mail.
