Strictly Weddings is always eager to be whisked away by the magic of fantasy, and today's castle wedding treat is sure to inspire. Superbly captured by the talented Strictly Weddings UK partner, Lesley and Shaun Meredith, the splendors of David and Sophie's castle wedding will have you dreaming for days!
It is no wonder that Sophie and David chose Peckforton Castle for their fairytale nuptials. With its timeless elegance, the exquisite mid-19th century castle sits atop rolling woodland in beautiful Cheshire, England. The classically medieval mansion, complete with gatehouse, portcullis, dry moat, arrow-slot windows and large towers, is a particularly impressive English icon as it is known to be "executed to the highest standards and is one of the great buildings of its age."
After meeting online, the magic of love immediately embraced David and Sophie during their first face-to-face date. "We both knew our lives had changed forever and we had found that someone special." A dreamy surprise proposal came upon the couple's second anniversary, complete with private, candlelit booth and personalized menu at the rented out Portrait House restaurant. Oh yes, and a carpet of 5,000 red rose petals covered the floor, too. The night concluded with a Rolls Royce Phantom chauffeured ride to a red carpet and champagne reception at the Hillbark Hotel. (Needless to say, Sophie said, "Yes!")
David and Sophie chose design elements to show a reverence for the past and complement the environment, such as the bridesmaids' Bespoke dresses. Vintage-inspired, long-sleeved, and full-length, the gowns were wrapped in romantic French lace by designer, Patty. Adorned with custom handcrafted jewelry by Claudia Pink, Sophie was a vision in her princess Vera Wang gown. Layer upon layer of nude and ivory tulle created rich drama with just the right amount of color.
The white, ivory, and nude color palette was displayed in the bride's wintery bouquet designed by Flower Flies, while the bridesmaids' carried sparkling clutches in lieu of flowers. Dreamy curls and romantically soft faces were perfected by the hair and makeup teams of Salon Collage Southport and Danielle Davey.
The Great Hall glistened in winter whites. Soaring windows cast warm light on the pristine ceremony set with ethereal clouds of Gypsophilia, sparkling candelabras, and the couple's white "thrones." Come reception, the hall regained its former luster and dazzled in great style with the lighting and design prowess of Red Floral Architecture and Hipswing Wedding Entertainment. To top it off in castle cool fashion, guests danced the night away thanks to DJ Sean Hughes.
The memories and romantic spirit of David and Sophie's "most amazing day" will live on forever. "To capture every single special moment from start to finish, we had the help of the ever-so-amazingly talented Lesley & Shaun Meredith," shares the couple. "Our day would not have been the same without them."
Much like the castle's high perch, our hearts are soaring for the newlyweds and their enchanting wedding. Congratulations, David and Sophie!
