A wedding with rustic chic appeal and violinist Lindsey Stirling steals our hearts in today's feature, especially as we enter into the fall season. What a more perfect setting for refined beauty then Deer Valley, Utah with its lush green mountain scenery captured by Pepper Nix Photography and planned by event designer Melissa Hagan of Melissa Fancy.
A New York City Proposal
Grace and Jonathon essentially met in an operating room. At the time, he had started his fellowship as a surgeon where she was working for a medical device company at the same hospital. During one of their travels to New York, Jonathon got down on one knee in the middle of Park Avenue on a median to propose to the love of his life. He joking said that if "he were to ever be stuck on an 'island,' there was no one else he would rather be stuck with," referencing the couple's on-going and inside joke of being stuck on a median (or island) in the middle of NYC. The next morning, they escaped the 14-degree weather of the big apple to celebrate their engagement in Turks and Caicos.
Summer Wedding Color Palette
Winter skiers, Grace and Jonathon chose a summer wedding on the deck of the Stein Eriksen Flagstaff surrounded by soft orange, peach, gold, chartreuse, pear green and white with a plethora of texture. Full blooms accented by twigs, branches and moss created the ethereal and rustic vibe. Through the help of the staff at Stein Eriksen, Grace secured Melissa Hagan of Melissa Fancy as her wedding planner. Throughout the process, if Grace didn't love something at first, Melissa always had an alternative solution.
Designer Gown by Monique Lhuillier
Grace wore a peau de soie Monique Lhuillier A-line gown with rosettes all around the skirt that she purchased at Klienfield in Manhattan. She complimented her bridal look with 5-inch wood and gold Fendi heels in nude patent leather that tied up her calves. She wore her hair in split French braids set in a low, messy bun with the help of hair and makeup artist Paula Dahlberg.
Mix and Match Amsale Bridesmaids
Inspired by the colors of Molly Sims wedding, Grace selected mix and match styles by Amsale Bridesmaids in truffle, champagne and vanilla. They looked radiant and complimented the mountain scenery that surrounded them.
Artisan Bloom
Her bouquet, by Artisan Bloom, was hand tied with peach and green ranunculus, blush vintage garden roses, peach poppies, sarracenia, scabiosa pods, white andromeda, black-eyed star of Beth, peach blooming succulents, coral peonies, tiny mossy branches and summer foliage with the stems simply banded in taupe raw silk.
Private Concert with Lindsey Stirling
As the new husband and wife entered their reception, renowned violinist Lindsey Stirling, led them in! She continued to play for the 80 guests in attendance performing a small intimate concert until the band took over.
Reception Ambience
Melissa worked with Artisan Bloom and the team designed a stunning ambience for the reception. Tables were covered with fresh moss, aspen logs, succulent blooms and mercury glass votives throughout the room. The fireplace mantel, a focal point in the room, held a combination of chunky glass vases with floating candles and tall and short votives. The hearth was accented with tall bare aspen trees with hanging glass candles and fresh moss, along with ivory pillar candles.
Naked Cake Beauty
The naked cake, crafted by Stein Eriksen's pastry chef, even held a rustic appeal. In between the yellow cake layers was a white chocolate buttercream, fresh raspberries and jam and the entire work of art was draped in flowers and spider mums.
Special Moments
Grace and Jonathon's dream day was peppered with special moments with their friends and family - including a moment when her family took the stage to sing Madonna. But it was the next morning, after realizing they hadn't eaten much at all, that they discovered a carefully wrapped package containing slices of their cake that they relished in bed as newly weds. Wishing this couple a lifetime of happiness and gratitude for sharing their wedding with us!
