What began as a fateful blind date in the Big Apple led to Sonal and Harjot's forever and this elegant culture affair at the Cipriani in New York. From Design House Décor's fairy tale theme - think lots of pastels, pale pinks and white - to the colorful peacock cake created by Buttercooky Bakery, Salwa Photographer flawlessly captured every moment.

Blind Date

Sonal was living in Miami and traveled to New York to visit her family when mutual friends stepped in for an evening to catch up and a chance recommendation to meet Harjot. She had no expectations that night, it was a blind date after all. However, the evening surpassed all hopes and beliefs and led to the excitement of a long-distance relationship until the day came for Sonal and Harjot to marry a few years later.

Fairytale Theme

The couple had two wedding ceremonies on the same day. They began their morning with the Punjabi/Sikh ceremony held at Glen Cover Gurdwara in Glen Cove, NY. The second observance, the Gujarati/Hindu ceremony took place in toward the evening at the greenhouse at the Swan Club. But it's the reception at the Cipriani that we share with our readers today with planner Royal Charms at the helm. With a royal and very colorful theme for their wedding ceremonies, Sonal and Harjot chose an elegant fairytale ambience for the reception to stand a part from their ritual ceremonies. Pastels of soft pale pinks in various hues blended with white filled the room with geometric shapes and overflowing vases of orchids draped in crystals. Design House Décor created a special staging area for the bride and groom with hanging chandeliers and pillars of floral arrangements lite by candle hurricanes. The celebration was filled movement and elegance from entertainment by Raj Minocha of DJ Sunny Entertainment. The colorful costumes of the dancers created a playful contrast to the rich hues of the rooms purple lighting. But, it was the over the top peacock cake by Buttercooky Bakery that took center stage.

Unforgettable Moments

Families and friends flew in from the UK and India for the celebration of Sonal and Harjot, giving the couple an unforgettable time to let loose with those most cherished. During the craziness of Sonal's bridal preparations, she received a text from Harjot that she saves to this day. Sonal wore a beautiful traditional gold and Bordeaux gown decked in fine jewelry. The detailed couple shots with Cipriani's vaults and architectural details are simply breathtaking.
