A taste of traditional wedding ideas from Mani, Greece graces our page today. Known for three core elements, Mani thrives on long lasting traditions, rebellious - but kind people and local products well-known around the world. Elias Kordelakos Photography tells the story of Mani through an inspired shoot combining these ingredients with Think Happy as the planner and designer. Modern ideas showcased through the roots of the land. The concept is inspired from the local products of Mani - think pomegranates, folklore, embroidery and naked cakes!
Traditional Wedding Ideas in Bold Rich Red
Located in the Southern part of Greece, covering the central peninsula in the south of the Peloponnese, Mani is a wild, rugged region. Fresh and juicy pomegranates are a local fruit of the region and exist in every garden. They are symbol of well-being and fertility. A fresh pomegranate is used as part of the welcoming basket for all guests, along with raki, local alcohol and olive soap. Building off the bold rich red of the fruit, Think Happy utilized this as the foundation of the color palette for the décor. Full of passion with a tone of exaggeration, like the temper of the local citizens of Mani. All shades of red flowers by RedBoxDays covered the wedding table with so many colors to represent joy and happiness. Nature naturally offered the brightest colors for the celebration which White Lilac played upon with the wood table and gold table settings. Mani's unique landscape boasts stone and wood architecture represented by squared buildings, solid arches and secret paths. The area is dominated by the background of the high mountains and the endless deep blue of the Greek sea.
The invitation was traditional using a cross stitch pattern by Love Me Do, representing golden birds. This folklore sign of wealth and freedom was also embroidered on a small scarf. Always to be in the pocket of the guests, as a reminder of this special day. The team incorporated the local pattern into the wedding favor, placed at the guest's seats for them to take home along with the happy ever after moments of the wedding. A desert table was set up showcasing the region's local sweets and delights. Naked cakes, cake pops, cup cakes mixed with traditional sweets were created by Cake a Wish to tempt our sweet side. Each item on the dessert table originated from old recipes carried over from grandmother to daughter. We adore how Elias Kordelakos Photography visited special places of the land to show the amazing energy of Mani from the old grocery shop and olive tree fields to the traditional fishing boat.
