Nothing quite puts you in the spirit more than today's burgundy and evergreen Christmas wedding complete with Santa and a guest appearance by Frosty. Going through this amazing gallery captured by Ama by Aisha, of course Santa dancing with a Rita Vinieris bride would catch our attention this time of year. But Kate and Josh's day is so much more. And why wouldn't it be when the bride herself is wedding planner and former caterer? At the time of her wedding Kate worked for Harper Events who executed her winter fairytale at the Julia Ideson Library in Houston down to the last festive detail. Yes, their entire burgundy and evergreen Christmas wedding day was centered around the season. From the decor at their venue to the floral colors to a guest of honor, Santa! Even their grand exit led by a bagpiper complete with a snow blower as their friends rang jingle bells. In the bride's words, "It was magical, over the top, and I couldn't have asked for more."
Looking through these photos, specifically of Kate getting ready in the Julia Ideson Library, you can just HEAR the dulcet tones of Belle's songbird voice from Beauty and the Beast. How can you not with a bride that looks that much like a Disney princess surrounded by books?! Forgoing a first look (though Kate did one with her bridesmaids), the couple wrote and exchanged letters pre-ceremony. Donning a burgundy velvet bow tie and a tartan green pocket square - a nod to his Welsh and Scottish heritage, Joshua, shared quiet moments with his family and groomsmen prior to the ceremony. The ceremony was officiated with Josh's dad, former Command Sergeant Major R. Shawn Powell, who wrote the entire ceremony specifically for the couple. Kate's mom had hand-sewn wool in Josh's family tartan made in Scotland and flown in to make pocket squares for the men and the hand-fasting ribbon. Kate also carried a blue pocket square from her great-grandfather that had hand-sewn royal blue stitching. Kate and Josh also continued to tie in their venue to their decor with the help of Kate's mom who collected books used as part of their centerpieces accompanied by evergreen and a single red rose in a bud vase for the tablescapes. Kate's eye for detail and experience had her hand-selecting favorite menu items and working on goodies like koozies, custom linen-like napkins and signage. Sprinkling her own touch of magic for her burgundy and evergreen Christmas wedding.
