Lincolnshire is often overlooked in favour of some of the home counties situated to the south of the UK and within a stone’s throw of London however, Lincolnshire is a diverse county with plenty to offer the bride and groom. There are a range of settings and venues which means there is something for everyone whatever the type of wedding you are planning.

For a town wedding, choose Grantham with great access from the A1M and a range of civic backdrops in different styles and to suit all tastes. Lincoln, the county town, offers an ancient location with the magnificent cathedral which dominates this historic town with period buildings dating back several centuries.

For something truly classic and out of another age, Stamford is a compact medieval town located on the Great North Road right next to the famous Burghley House, one of the finest Elizabethan houses in the UK. Stamford was the first town in the country to create a conservation area way back in 1967 which might go some way towards explaining why much of its rich architectural and historic heritage has remained intact. Stamford is the perfect location for a town wedding with a historic backdrop and minimal 21st century encroachment. There are around a dozen approved venues some with exclusive accommodation. If you are having a rural wedding then Stamford is a great base for your guests to stay with excellent access into pretty countryside and villages plus, it is a good place to look for independent and niche wedding suppliers with lots of unusual shops.

Lincolnshire is brimming with historic country estates, grand properties and pretty manor houses, a huge choice of approved venues to suit a range of tastes and budgets. Some of these venues are large established hotels but others offer more intimate family run venues with a real country vibe and classic rural backdrop.

As a largely agricultural country, why not say “I do” down on the farm or choose a pretty watermill or Tudor barn as your venue? Marry in beautiful landscapes with a humanist, festival or Asian theme – there are some peaceful and picturesque outdoor settings which will allow your wedding to be truly unique. A large village like Woodhall Spa can offer all of the amenities without any of the hustle and bustle of a town and has some historic RAF connections for those with a military background or an interest in 20th century history.

Lincolnshire has a coastline of about fifty miles running from the Humber estuary in East Yorkshire to The Wash in North Norfolk. Home to several blue flag rated beaches, there are also colourful, old-fashioned seaside towns like Skegness and Cleethorpes, an option for stag and hen nights as well as the big day itself.

Lincolnshire is a county full of surprises with historic towns, rolling countryside and an award-winning coastline. Easily accessible by road, the A1M runs through the county providing good links in all directions and Grantham is on the main train line from London Kings Cross to the north of England and Scotland. There are four regional airports within easy reach – Doncaster, East Midlands, Humberside and Nottingham.
