Northamptonshire is described as ‘the Rose of the Shires’ and with beautiful countryside, vibrant historic towns plus excellent road and rail links, it has much to offer as a potential destination for all kinds of weddings, large and small.

Characterised by pretty villages like Collyweston, Eydon and Cottesbrooke with their hallmark picturesque golden limestone, Northamptonshire offers an abundance of venues and backdrops for a country wedding.  Choose from stately homes, historic estates and ancient halls, grand stone barns, pretty farms and hidden manor houses, some offering exclusive occupation for you and your guests.

Northamptonshire’s hallmark is one of idyllic rural locations all within easy reach of major roads, transport links and amenities so you can combine the best of both worlds – the peace of the countryside without having to manage the challenges of a truly rural location which are not insignificant particularly during the winter months.

Four Northamptonshire towns have recently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK so why not consider them as a good location for your wedding? Kettering is a pretty market town with excellent rail links to London and some choice and unusual wedding venues, it also makes a great base for guests who are coming to Northamptonshire for a country wedding with plenty of accommodation on offer.

The county town, Northampton, lies on the banks of the River Nene and is one of the largest towns in England, offering a diverse range of wedding venues to suit all tastes and budgets.  Originally a medieval town, industry flourished here in the 18th and 19th centuries and Northamptonshire became famous for its light industries of leather manufacturing and the production of shoes.  At the other end of the scale is Wellingborough, one of the smallest towns in the UK, also lying on the banks of the River Nene.

Northamptonshire might just give the impression of being fairly standard in its range of both rural and urban wedding venues but there is more to this county than meets the eye.  Scratch beneath the surface and you will find destinations that do things just a little bit differently, ideal if you want a classic backdrop but with something of a quirky twist.  There is also a distinct trend of private family residences, a great alternative to a standard wedding package at a truly commercial venue like a hotel and often these locations offer exclusivity and total occupation for the bridal party as well.

Less than seventy miles from London, Northamptonshire benefits from the M1 motorway plus excellent road links in all directions due to its central location.  There is a fast train connection from London Euston and quick access to several regional airports across the East Midlands with London Luton around forty miles away from Northampton by car.
