A brief look into Kentucky’s top sights, and you’ll soon see that this state has far more to offer for your wedding than a main course of its famous fried chicken.
Kentucky is renowned for its outdoor adventures, unique cultural scene and its dynamic cities. There are a multitude of wedding venues catering to all tastes.
The largest city in Kentucky, Louisville, has an exceptional food and drink scene. In fact, in Louisville alone, there are over 2,500 restaurants. The city has an impressive number of nominees for the James Beard Award, too.
Visitors can taste both high end, luxury dishes, and hearty, flavourful local specialities. One of Louisville’s most famous specialties is the Hot Brown sandwich (an open turkey and bacon sandwich, which has been broiled with a rich French Mornay sauce), which was invented in the 1920s at the city’s Brown Hotel - where you can go and try it for yourself to this day.
There’s also the renowned Urban Bourbon Trail. Louisville is famous for creating some of the world’s most sought-after spirits, many of which you can sample along the trail. It offers a great, alternative way to tour the city.
Mouth watering? Ours too.
The city is also the home of the famous Kentucky Derby. This annual horse race is a much-anticipated event not just in the state, but across the whole of America.
In fact, this love of horses isn’t just limited to Louisville. Across the state, there is a deep love of horses. In Kentucky’s beautiful, picture-postcard farms, visitors are welcome to stroll the grounds, spend some time with the horses, and even take part in a few equestrian activities. It’s like stepping into a classic movie.
