Did you know that dating back to 1876, American football games and Thanksgiving Day have gone hand in hand thanks to the annual tradition of Yale and Princeton playing each other on this day? In true holiday spirit, we couldn't think of a better way to huddle behind the tradition ourselves with this glorious college love wedding day at Notre Dame uniting two alums who just so happen to be football fanatics. For Jake Golic, the son of ESPN Sports Commentator Mike Golic, who married his best friend, Jenny Fucillo, the central theme for their wedding day was obvious - all things Notre Dame, right down to be married at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on campus. Michael Angelos Events was given creative freedom leading in the university's colors of blue and gold, and the results are nothing short of high-end sophistication. From the bride finding her dream gown at Bridal Reflections to C'est La Vie Cakes unbelievable sugary vision, Katie Whitcomb Photography captured it all for us to cheer over this Fighting Irish opulence and alma mater wedding.
College Love Wedding Day at Notre Dame
Notre Dame was the place where Jake and Jenny met, fell in love, and started their story. So, without a doubt, this special place was to take center stage on their wedding day. They kept with a traditional at the beginning showcasing the blue and gold color scheme, but ultimately, they wanted an awesome party - for friends and families to dance like it was their college days. Incorporating the blue and gold was subtle when it came to her floral with whites and champagnes and hints of navy in bridal bouquets. Jenny's mother in law actually picked out her dress at Bridal Reflections. She knew Jenny wanted a dramatic back, but Jenny says she never would have picked the dress she wore off the rack. She was shocked how much she loved it when she put it on. Her bridal advice: "I think you really have to try on everything to get an idea. Wedding dresses are a lot different than any other dresses in my opinion - so I think it's important to have an open mind." Jake's getting ready moments in the very locker room of Notre Dame's football team had to be unforgettable. They drank from an ice luge carved with the notable Irish clover and their initial while a Kilty Irish Band helped heighten the overall Fighting Irish theme. No one was surprised when homemade donuts and breakfast sandwiches came out celebrating their college love wedding day at Notre Dame.
