The state is home to a vast number of deep blue lakes. These include the most famous (and largest) Great Lake, Lake Superior, stretching alongside the state’s border. Other mesmerising lakes to explore in Minnesota include Mille Lacs Lake, the Lake of the Woods, Lake Itasca (the primary source of the great Mississippi River), Lake Minnetonka and Lake Vermilion, just to name a few.

Top tip: if you time your wedding with the leaves changing colour, your ceremony will be framed by all the rich colours of Autumnal leaves, which contrast beautifully with the clear blue waters.

Or, if you two are more city-dwellers than nature-lovers, you can centre your ceremony at one of Minnesota’s stylish cities.

Minneapolis is known for its fantastic art and cultural exhibits, which can be explored at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Walker Art Center and the modern Weisman Art Museum.

The other half of Minnesota’s ‘Twin Cities’ is its capital, Saint Paul. The city boasts a wealth of impressive cultural landmarks, including the Minnesota State Capitol, the renowned Science Museum of Minnesota and Como Park. With its abundance of wildlife, iconic glass conservatory and lush, exotic plants, Como Park makes a stand-out wedding venue.
